Oh, these? [He looks at the bags of salt like he just realized they were in his arms.] They're for a good friend of mine! His name's Nunya.

[And then he frowns, letting the false cheer slip into grumpiness immediately.]

Nunya Business.

I am so not okay with any of this. I would just like to state that for the record. Whatever record there may be.

Sounds like a pleasant afternoon in Wonderland to me, but sure I'll bite.
What grand plans does Leonard Snart have in mind for the day? I'm like five seconds away from going stir crazy.

And don't say rummy
I'm tired of you winning even though I know you're cheating
catchacold: :| (just a glance)

[personal profile] catchacold 2017-02-11 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I like to consider cheating part of the game.

Not my fault I'm better at it.

Meet me on the roofs. Fresh air's good for you.
leaguer: (one hundred twelve.)

[personal profile] leaguer 2017-02-11 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course you do.
See you there in five.

( sara's there in less than that, standing on the roof with her arms folded over her chest as she surveys the panoramic view of wonderland laid out before her — the ocean, rolling waves as far as the eye can see; the forest where she'd found herself when she'd arrived, thick and looking no less endless from up here.

it might be beautiful, if it wasn't wonderland. instead, all sara feels is a low, pulsating sense of dread, even as she waits for leonard. )
catchacold: :| (just a glance)

[personal profile] catchacold 2017-02-11 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[As Leonard notes quietly, it's three point forty-seven minutes later that he makes it to the roof, not surprised to find Sara there already. He has his hands in his pockets as he stops next to her, surveying their surroundings with less of an intensity, at least at the moment.] You look about ready to fly off.
leaguer: (one hundred forty five.)

[personal profile] leaguer 2017-02-11 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonderland.

( it's repeated, deadpan, as sara stops and looks at him for a moment, disbelieving. yet the way rip says it sounds so normal, like it's a completely matter-of-fact part of his day to day; the whole "pocket dimension" part kind of helps out in that regard, too, considering it sounds like exactly the type of thing the team would encounter on the waverider, even if sara can't exactly wrap her head around it right now. )

You mean — Alice. "Off with their heads." Creepy cats. Total acid trip. That Wonderland?

( it's kind of a rhetorical question, one which she just shakes her head at as she resumes following rip back towards the entrance of the mansion, which she'd tried to bypass earlier. she still hasn't been able to get a solid read on the mansion, but at least with rip here, who's apparently been here for months now, it should, in theory, be okay. at least she'll be able to clean herself up, she hopes, considering her hand's still looking kind of gnarly and stinging a little, the hem of her shirt's torn, and she's pretty sure she looks as much of a mess as she feels. )
leaguer: (one hundred thirty five.)

[personal profile] leaguer 2017-02-11 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Might, if I could.

( sara acknowledges his presence with a slight turn of her head, a nod. ) But thankfully, I don't really have a death wish. Even here. ( been there, done that, et cetera. leonard can probably relate now. )

[Perhaps she does mean for the question to go unanswered--but Rip takes the time to confirm it anyway.]

One in the same...right down to the creepy cat, in fact. He made an appearance some weeks ago over the network that seems to be in place here. Oh, and try to remember where you first showed up; somewhere nearby there should have been a phone.

[Helpfully, Rip pulls his from his pocket. Typical 21st century fare, horribly outdated in Rip's eyes and yet essential here.]

If you didn't grab it we'll have to go back for it later. [They reach the door by then, and Rip politely holds it open for Sara to pass through first. It also gives him the opportunity to better take in her rather ragged appearance.] And hopefully we won't encounter whatever obstacle has left you so...disheveled.
leaguer: (one.)

[personal profile] leaguer 2017-02-11 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
( there's an unrestrained groan at that, as she takes a peek at his phone — a phone that she decisively doesn't have in her possession. but sure, she'll pass by him and enter the mansion at long last, responding: ) The forest. Deep in the forest. Kind of felt like it had a mind of it's own — like it didn't want me going where I was headed.

( a beat. )

We're gonna have to be careful. ( a confirmation that she'd missed picking up the device without outright saying it; it was so dark, she couldn't have even seen it if she'd tried. the "we" that he offers in terms of retrieving is a small comfort, one which she's glad to hang on to and repeat. ) Luckily for us, I have a knife handy.

( but now that she's inside at last, she has to take a moment to stop and take in the entrance hall; it's grand and ornate and far too fancy — maybe even fancier than the queen mansion. her head tips up so she can look through the skylight, eyebrows lifted in a quiet awe. )

[Ah, well. What luck would they have if not for the phenomenally bad? He can hardly blame her for missing the device; Rip would have to, had it not been in his pocket when he wound up taking his little swim. That she'd been dropped off in the forest is a bit more concerning, leaving Rip to frown as he follows her in.]

Quite; supposedly wandering too far into the forest causes a person's death--something I've been happy to leave untested.

[Particularly after he had experienced his own demise, thanks to the hardships of an event. All things he would have to detail for Sara, but first he allows her that chance to stare upwards, that moment of wonder unhampered by the full truth of their situation. Even Rip has to admit that this place is rather impressive.

All of its horrors aside.]

You'll find you have quite a bit more than that. Make no mistake: this is a prison, one of nefarious design, but by and large we are provided for. [By rather extraordinary means, ones he intends to show her along with the rest.

First, however? She needs to learn how many of them have been drawn in.]

And we are also not alone here. Several members of our team have been pulled in, all of us from differing times.

There's no such thing as disappointment, [ she says with a grunt, voice strained as she stands on the tips of her toes, leaning as far over the lip of the microwave as she can. one forceful tug later and she rises back up with the capacitor in hand. ] Only attempts that don't work and a growing list of ones that just might.

[ he goes ignored for a moment as janeway reaches for her tricorder, flipping it open and situating the capacitor on top. it clicks into place as if it belongs there, the tricorder beeping in time with her fingers as they dance across the display screen. ]

What can I do for you? [ business-like, as if she's still donning a military uniform and is standing on the bridge of her ship, not half-clothed in a victorian gown in the middle of a rustic kitchen. ] If this is your facility, I assure you I'll clean up after myself and put this back together before I leave.

[Network]

[The image being projected on the network's screen is of a woman who is decidedly not happy. And when she speaks, dry and level and dangerous isn't even the beginning of how her voice sounds.]

Any person here care to tell me the reason my quarters looks like a piñata was exploded inside of it? And where my jacket's run off to in the space of five minutes?

[And if she finds out that some person is responsible for that, they might want to run and hide. For life.]

[Action]

[Ending up on a strange desert planet isn't something new for Zoë. Jungle, however, is new. And for a while, she's okay with relaxing near the oasis until she gets her footing. The rucksack of food is actually more than she and the crew of Serenity had from time to time. And more than just protein. Besides, the clothes are close enough to what she normally wears that it doesn't bother her.

Of course, all good things must come to an end. When asked if she wants to go into the deeper treeline, the former soldier just looks at her companion as if they've grown a second head.]

You're askin' if I want to leave this veritable paradise to go traispin' around in a jungle. I can't tell if you're joking or serious, to be honest. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but generally there are dangerous animals in those trees and the like.

[This is certainly a pickle they are in and Mettaton wishes he could come up with a better plan than either of the suggestions Grout has made, but he's coming up empty. Well. Other than one thing.]

If I were strong enough, I'd just stretch us all across, but I'm afraid my strength gives out once you get to "wagon" size.

[He has long noodle arms. There is no muscle there.]

We could test the water depth to see if it is shallow enough before we go strolling through it. Or, I suppose, we could look to see if there is a ferry anywhere nearby and just pay someone to take us across.

( the statement about the severity of the forest leaves sara a little shaken, but she's going to push it away, divert any and all attention from it if at all possible. death. it's something that sara's more familiar with than she'd like; that feeling of pure emptiness, of loneliness, as death tightened its grip on her —

it nearly makes sara shudder. but she doesn't want to — can't — let rip know. instead, she'll turn her attention back towards her captain, beginnings of a sly smile creeping onto the corners of her mouth, weak as it is. )

Sounds like this place has a lot in common with the Waverider, ( sara ribs gently, her first attempt at anything less than gravely serious. their time ship certainly kept them well provided for, that's for sure — the prison part is up for debate, and mostly a joke.

at least the company apparently isn't too far off from the ship, according to rip. )

[Very often, Rip cannot be called a sensitive man. Too often he gets so wrapped up in his own thoughts and plans that he can miss certain things happening around him. Yet he has also tried to change that aspect of himself in regards to the people he considers his team. There is something in Sara's reaction, a moment he cannot quite name or place--but just as he thinks he might grasp it, she smiles instead, commenting on the supposed similarities between where they are now and the ship where they should be.

Rip supposes he should just be thankful she missed the commentary on potentially turning it into a vessel for leisure cruises.]

Oh, far less than you might think. My ship at least makes sense. [Made of parts and pieces and circuits and wires that all have a purpose and a place. This has been one of the more frustrating aspects of being trapped within Wonderland for Rip, and his mouth tightens briefly before he moves on to larger, more complicated matters. He motions towards a set of stairs, taking the lead to begin their ascent.]

Dr. Palmer, first of all; like you he is from what I see as the future, although given that he hasn't made mention of an atomic bomb hitting my ship--[Rip would get over that eventually, probably. Maybe.]--perhaps not so far as you.

Mr. Rory, on the other hand, comes from the past: from some point after Mr. Snart took him off the ship following his betrayal of us to the time pirates, but before the Time Masters found him.

[It's quite a significant jump back--yet not so jarring, Rip thinks, as the person he has to list last. Sara is from the future, so she knows of all that happens at the Vanishing Point.

Including of who was lost there. It is why he stops, turning to face Sara, to look at her directly as he rounds out the list.]

And Mr. Snart, who last remembers the explosion of the Oculus.

[Event: Mansion Flood - Magic Training Room]
[This hadn't been the most fun for the youkai, but he wasn't going to complain much. The only blessing here was that Sanzo wasn't around for this, as much as the monk loved water.

Hakkai could feel the air growing thin in his current refuge, so he knew his time there was growing short. He gathered his wits and took a deep breath before slipping past the barrier into the water. His swim wasn't terribly long, but it wasn't exactly his idea of a good time, either. The next room he reached that was unlocked allowed him to spill unceremoniously into what looked like... well, he wasn't exactly sure?

The youkai shook his head to fling water from the strands and replaced the monocle over his right eye.]

I'm sorry if I'm intruding. [He called carefully, holding a hand carefully in front of him in case he needed to summon a chi shield. Startling people who were already in a panic over an event wasn't probably the best idea, but he wouldn't begrudge them if they did attack.] Just say so and I'll leave if anyone's here.

[There's a perpetually smiling face on the network. He's keen to keep up appearances, even if demons don't seem to be that big of a problem here as back home. Well, not unless his mirror crosses over...]

I was wondering--I know there are plenty of places to sit down and have a proper meal, but cooking is my speciality and I'd love to contribute to the community in any way I can. Would anyone be interested in some Japanese-style cooking? If this steps on anyone's toes, please do speak up! I don't want to intrude on anyone else's turf, as it were. [There's that disarming smile again. Wide, sweet, and to those that knew him intimately, very plastic.]

[Action: Kitchen]
[Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah--wait, no. It's just Hakkai. And he's cooking a lot of... something. One might also notice that he's meticulously cleaning everything. That's probably not a good sign, but hey, if you stop by for food, he'll absolutely feed you. As it is, there are already a few plates of different dishes sitting on the counter that he's made for any weary travellers who are looking for something to eat.

This might actually be a normal sight to most in his time in Wonderland. Hakkai's known for his love of the culinary arts, along with his love of teaching. But when he is stress-cooking, it's best to just enjoy the food and try not to piss him off the mild-mannered youkai.]

Take a seat and pick a plate. I'm also taking requests. [He'll say to anyone who enters the kitchen with that friendly smile of his.]

[The actual alternatives tug a smile across John's lips. He starts the audio, then decides, on second though, show her a friendly face. Being new here is rough, he won't deny that.

The smile she'll get is welcoming, and if she decides to reciprocate with video, that works for him. But if she keeps to audio, he won't be offended in the least.]

I think "Welcome to Wonderland" is sort of sugar-coating it, but yeah, it's still better. My personal favourite is "surrender or die". But at least with those, you know where you stand, right? "Wonderland" is kind of a misleading construct.

It's mostly accurate. I mean, it's not awe-inspiring and I sure as hell wouldn't pay for this time-share, but most days it's right on the money. What you've gotta remember is, everything you've experienced? It's now up for grabs by this place. One day you'll be kicking back on the beach, enjoying a beer and the next, you're waking up to some nightmare someone else has lived through back home. Alien invasion, zombie apocalypse, mansion-sized fish tank... So, I guess judging how bad things can get is pretty relative. On that note, if we're attacked by life-sucking aliens, that would be my bad. Lieutenant Colonel John Sheppard.
